Eliminating Demand with Your Help!

Special Message from Our President & CEO:

In our 12 years on the sidewalk, we’ve developed a powerful business plan that is shutting down abortion facilities all over the country—we’ve already seen 77 facilities close and counting!

It’s simple, but monumentally impactful: redirect enough clients away from the facility to life-affirming resources, you eliminate demand; help enough workers leave the abortion industry for ATTWN, you eliminate supply.

In short, you hit them from both sides long enough, and it’s hard for facilities to stay open.

Yes, when you stand on that sidewalk in front of that huge facility that is taking life or referring mothers across state lines for an abortion, it can feel like one big David and Goliath battle.

Your heart is grieved watching people go in.

You often ask yourself: how can people do this, much less profit from it?

You want so badly for that place to shut down and leave your community.

But I’m reminded of a simple strategy Mother Teresa employed that gradually changed the world: “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.”

And she ended up caring for hundreds of thousands of the “the poorest of the poor,” as she put it—bringing Christ to all of them.

The world looked on and saw a harvest such as no one had reaped before.

And that’s the inspiration we carry with us at Sidewalk Advocates for Life.

Still, to effectively eliminate demand, we can’t do just “anything”—we have to aptly meet the needs of the pregnant mom and serve and love her well … or it won’t work. We won’t win her business, so to speak. We won’t win that life-saving conversation.

So, we have to train our Sidewalk Advocates to be equipped for any issue they may come across, and that’s why we’ve invested so much into our comprehensive 3-point training, tools, and support program.

I was reminded of this simple approach of loving and serving her well when Kelly from our national team shared this picture last week of baby #26,135 saved alongside his precious mother, referred to one of our pregnancy center partners by a South Florida Sidewalk Advocate.

Again, it was so simple: a well-trained Sidewalk Advocate showed up, offered her concrete help and hope, and reminded her she was not alone. Not only did she abandon her abortion appointment to accept the referral to the pregnancy center, but three other moms chose life that day, too!

And that abortion facility lost a TON of business that day.

It’s so true that a profound impact is made by serving one mother, one family, one community at a time.

Moving forward with this winning business plan—with our 228 locations and counting—we are excited to rapidly expand into other cities and states and ensure that no mother enters an abortion or abortion-referral center without knowing help and hope.

Meanwhile, in the next year, we’re also expanding our “Town Square Model” whereby Sidewalk Advocates go to a high traffic area to hand out information about life-affirming resources, catching abortion-vulnerable mothers before they order abortion pills or travel to the nearest facility.

The only thing we need to grow this is funding.  With your help, we can be in every major city in America and beyond, and see more mothers reached and more facilities close before it’s too late.

Will you join us with a gift of $100, $500, $2,000 or more so we can reach our end-of-fiscal-year goal?

There’s nothing like receiving yet another picture in your inbox of a mother and child saved from abortion.

We’re not tired of winning yet—but we need your help to sustain the life-saving momentum and close more abortion businesses!

Thank you for prayerfully partnering with us, once again, in the greatest human rights movement on earth.

P.S. We’d love to welcome YOU further into this life-saving mission — whether as Sidewalk Advocate, Prayer Partner, or supporter. Visit sidewalkadvocates.org/getinvolved to learn more!

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
