200 Babies SAVED! And VICTORY in Texas!

Dear Friend of Life,

Let no one tell you differently — we are experiencing a momentum in the pro-life movement these days such as never seen before!

I have two amazing victories to share with you — and I ask you to join me in a prayer of thanksgiving for each one!

First of all, since Sidewalk Advocates for Life launched on April 1, we have now witnessed to over 200 babies SAVED by the grace of God!  What a victory — thank you, Lord!

In fact, reports continue to roll in, and we are constantly hearing of more miracles on the sidewalk!  It just goes to show that when people of faith PRAY and SHOW UP in a spirit of love, prayer and peace at the abortion center, miracles happen!

Second, in our home state of Texas, this past week, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued a ruling to suspend the lower court’s ruling that struck down key provisions of Texas’ new pro-life law, HB 2. This ruling meant that HB 2 was allowed to go into full effect while we await a full hearing by the Fifth Circuit.  More specifically, as of this past week, Texas was allowed to fully enforce the ambulatory surgical center safety regulations and physician admitting privilege requirements in abortion facilities across Texas.

Because of these common sense safety standards that further protect the lives of women, that takes the number of abortion facilities in the Lone Star State down from 41+ to 7!  YES …7!

We praise God for these incredible victories for life, but we know that we must continue this fight until no more children die and no more women cry.

Friends, thank you for supporting us in this work to save lives, transform hearts and end abortion through the grace of God!Chris runs Expectant Mother Care (EMC) in the Bronx, NY -- and trains his interns under the Sidewalk Advocates for Life Sidewalk Advocacy Program!

Do you have a passion for pro-life work?

Do you want to be involved with helping pregnant women through peaceful sidewalk counseling and pregnancy resource centers?

Do you want to help make an impact in New York City, the abortion capitol of America?

Let us introduce you tohttp://prolifeinterns.com/ with Expectant Mother Care (EMC) FrontLine Pregnancy Centers!Expectant Mother Care (EMC) is New York City’s oldest and largest network of pregnancy centers. Directed by Chris Slattery, EMC FrontLine counselors and ultrasound techs have helped save over 43,000+ children from abortion since 1985, and have counseled over 145,000 women!

In 2013, EMC FrontLine’s staff and interns saved over 1,500 mothers from certain abortions, mostly inside their pregnancy care centers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and numerous other U.S. cities.

EMC has internship opportunities available from May to September and October to April.  You must be 20 years old (or turn 20 while in the program) and must either be a native English speaker or have strong English skills.  You also have to be a non-smoker.  Interns work around 45 hours a week in various pro-life activities.  EMC provides food, housing and a weekly stipend.

Again, EMC has been a part of 43,000+ saves since 1985 — imagine what you can learn from them!  Imagine the good you can do in your community after this in-depth hands-on learning process!  This is an amazing opportunity for any person eager to get involved with the pro-life movement and learn how to help mothers-in-crisis on many levels.  It is hard work, but it is worth it!

If you feel called to do pro-life work or know someone who is, go to prolifeinterns.com for more information.

WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL (OCTOBER 5-11, 2014): “WRITTEN ON OUR HEARTS”

by Lauren Muzyka, Executive Director, Sidewalk Advocates for Life

Verse(s):   “Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.  It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, ‘Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?’ No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.”

– Deuteronomy 30:11-14

Reflection: We humans make life so complicated, sometimes.

We start out as young children who instinctively know that it’s wrong to hurt another human being, much less take their life away.

And yet, somewhere along the way, we buy into the lies society feeds us  ...It’s not really a baby …well, yes it is, but it’s YOUR body …well, yes, the baby might be alive, but your circumstances are so dire, it’s fine …it’s just a blob of tissue anyways …don’t worry, just do it, you’re already forgiven …it’s really not that big a deal.

Many times, the right thing is the simple thing.  And we know somewhere deep in our hearts that taking another human life — even at its earliest stages — is wrong.

This is why I believe in the natural law — the law that is said to be written on our hearts by God Almighty, simply because we are human.  When I head out to the abortion facility, I often don’t give some great, eloquent speech that turns women to truth of the life within them.  No, many times, I reach for the very simple truths that are already written on their hearts.  I say these very simple truths — kindly and peacefully — and their hearts begin to open in miraculous ways.

Why is that?  Because it’s there …and somehow, she knows it.  I didn’t create it.  I just lovingly point to it.

Faith Challenge: Take a moment to familiarize yourself with “the Natural Law” — an understanding in philosophy that there are some things that you just “can’t not know” due to God putting it on your heart.  Then, remember that even if you don’t have Scripture to start with when reaching out to a woman-in-crisis, you can appeal through love and the human experience — and gradually, lead her to faith in God.

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
