Verse(s): “A clean heart create for me, O God; give me back the joy of your salvation.” — Isaiah 55:12
Reflection: Many Christians — in the 40 days leading up to Easter — celebrate a season called Lent. During Lent, believers pause to take a little spiritual inventory and see where they are in their walk with Christ: is there anything I need to ask forgiveness for? What earthly attachments do I have that prevent me from living a more full, abundant life in Christ? Do I treat my neighbor — even difficult friends or family — with love and respect? Am I living in such a way that attracts others to Christ?
A pause like this is likened to “spring cleaning” — we take a serious look at ourselves so that we can “get more out of the way,” so Christ can shine even more brightly through us. It reminds me of the verse, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30).
If we don’t get out of the way for God, how can he work miracles through us on the sidewalk — and every area of our lives?
Call to Action: Lent is not over! Consider making a small sacrifice, remembering the sacrifice that He made for you on the Cross! From now until Easter, you can give up a food item, TV, a vice, etc. …and use that time, instead, to pray at your local abortion facility or pray at home for an end to abortion!
