A few weeks ago, I traveled to Colorado for our inaugural Law of Life Summit in Boulder. With heartfelt speakers and opportunities for connection, attendees were reminded of the strength found in our shared fight for life. The event served as a catalyst for building lasting relationships and inspiring collective action to save more lives and end abortion.
One of the highlights of the visit was Friday night when everyone went to the NOW CLOSED late-term abortion facility of Warren Hern. We joined the community in a beautiful candlelight ceremony that consisted of prayer, worship, and a testimony of a baby saved from that location, ending with us leaving dozens of roses outside.
There was a deep weight as we reflected on the lives lost at this abortion facility. In more than 50 years, Dr. Hern took the lives of more than 44,000 children. Each child lost was known by God — formed by His hands, loved beyond measure, created in His image and with purpose. Though their time on earth was brief, their worth was never diminished. We mourn not only their absence, but the grief carried by mothers, fathers, and families forever changed.
That place of darkness and death has closed. What once was a stronghold of despair has now been claimed by the power of prayer, perseverance, and God’s mercy. This is the result of our faithful Sidewalk Advocates, prayer partners, and many others in the community who stood in the gap to offer life-affirming alternatives and constant prayers in the face of this despair. We know that every act of faithfulness, every prayer lifted, and every loving conversation outside these facilities plays a part in victories, big and small, known and unknown.
Today I rejoice, and I hope you will, too. The closing of this facility is more than just a policy win; it is a spiritual victory. It is a reminder that God hears us. He sees the work we do, and He is with us, every single day. He is moving even when we cannot see it, and He is bringing light into places long held captive by darkness.
In further testament to how the Holy Spirit is moving in Boulder, we were also blessed to visit a memorial built by a local church to give more than 5,000 preborn children a proper burial. To stand in the face of such redemptive grief, acknowledging the God-given dignity of every child, born and preborn, was awe-inspiring.
This profound experience in Colorado reminded me that our God is ever faithful and our labor in His name is never in vain. So, take heart! The Kingdom of God is advancing, and we are fighting from victory, not for it. How blessed we are to be part of His good work!
