A Powerful Sidewalk Encounter

Each fall, many of our Sidewalk Advocates join in the local 40 Days for Life vigil, like our team in Wichita, KS. While on the sidewalk, our Advocates met a man who stopped to pray with the vigil.

They first saw the man as he was jogging … and crying. When he spotted the group on the sidewalk, he stopped and bowed his head to pray. He then shared that his newborn daughter with Down Syndrome is currently in the NICU with many complications including trouble breathing. He was having a difficult time dealing with everything and decided to go on a run. And he “ran” right into the vigil. He asked the Advocates to remember his family in their ongoing prayer. Together, the group has raised their voices to heaven for this man of faith and his family.

This unexpected moment was a beautiful example of walking with others to defend life at every stage. Praise the Lord for bringing these souls together for a brief, but powerful encounter!

Facilities closed: 

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit: 

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

 

Hopeful saves: 

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

 

Babies saved: 

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
