A Birthday Prayer Granted

Jan, a faithful Sidewalk Advocate from the Wichita team and mother of six, felt especially called to be present during a prayer vigil outside the local Planned Parenthood. While offering roses with her prayers, she encountered a young couple in the alley behind the facility. They looked so desperate and sad; she could tell the young woman had been crying. Jan offered them support, along with her prayers and a rose. And she told them she would be there for them if they changed their minds.

Unable to forget the look in their eyes, Jan felt prompted to call in prayer warrior friends. She immediately thought of her friend whose birthday was that day; she felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to ask her friend to pray for a special birthday intention: that the couple would leave the Planned Parenthood and choose life. Her friend agreed, as did Jan’s fellow Advocate Abe, who was keeping watch for the couple after Jan’s sidewalk shift.

Just before the facility closed, Abe saw the couple again. As he approached to offer help and resources, the young man looked at him and said simply,

“We’re not going to go through with it. We also found out we’re having twins.”

Abe immediately called Jan to share the news and rejoice with her — not one, but two little lives saved!

All Glory be to God!!
