“We love you.”

Blessing Bag
“Be Brave” Gift Bags offered by Harrisburg Sidewalk Advocates to pregnant women

Stacy and her adult daughter Jen drove into the Harrisburg, PA Planned Parenthood. Jen was pregnant with her fourth child and considered high-risk by her OB/GYN. After three previous cesarean sections, Jen was told a fourth baby would likely kill her.

Jen got out of the car and headed towards the entrance of the abortion facility. We reached out to her offering hope and the words, “We love you.” Stacy saw us speaking to her, rolled down her window, “Excuse me, please tell me what you just said to her.”

We answered, “We told her that we loved her.”

She looked at us in disbelief; we could tell she was trying to find the words to respond. We approached her vehicle and reassured her that we were there not only to offer help and support for her daughter, but to walk with her on this journey. Tears began to stream down Stacy’s face as she began to explain their difficult circumstances. We asked if she had a few moments to talk. She said, “Yes” and parked the car and walked to where we stood.  We introduced ourselves and learned more about Jen’s circumstances. Stacy was horrified to learn the realities of chemical abortion.

She looked at us and said that her experience with us changed her mind about people who stand in front of abortion facilities. She reached out her arms in grateful affection. We hugged and then exchanged contact information which included a referral to a local high-risk OB/GYN. Within the hour, she returned to pick up her daughter who showed no signs of having chosen abortion.

When truth is explained in kindness, light invades the darkness, good is victorious over evil, and love conquers abortion.
