Tom had been at his post on the sidewalk for 45 minutes, and the third car of the day was pulling into the Planned Parenthood driveway.
He’d handed out a calendar that enclosed pregnancy services information to the two previous cars. When the car window rolled down this time, he asked his usual opening question: “Can I offer you a calendar?”
The young woman inside the car took the materials. Then she pointed down the driveway to Planned Parenthood and asked, “Will they answer my pregnancy questions?”
Tom explained that Planned Parenthood would not help with her pregnancy questions. “They’re only interested in your money,” he told her, adding that Planned Parenthood profits from abortion.
“They’re going to give you a pill to go home and use. God forbid you use it and something goes wrong. If you call them, they’re going to tell you to hang up and call the hospital.”
The young woman was dismayed, but Tom swiftly followed up, telling her about the nearby pregnancy resource center. “They will give you an ultrasound, and they will answer all your questions.”
He offered to lead the young woman there, driving ahead of her in his car, but she said she knew where the center was.
“As I’m standing there, she literally backs the car out of the driveway and drives in the direction of hope, life,” Tom recalls. “There’s no doubt in my mind that she took my advice. It wasn’t me—it was God’s doing. I was just the tool.”
