Prayer and Advocacy: A Miraculous Combination

Collaboration on the sidewalk is critical to saving lives. Whether it’s with a local 40 Days for Life vigil, a pregnancy resource center, or a post-abortion care ministry, these connections ensure the women we serve are greeted with God’s love and support no matter the circumstances.

One amazing story of such a partnership was shared with us by Memphis Coalition for Life — an organization committed to uniting local churches, Christian organizations, and pregnancy help centers in prayer, fasting, and sidewalk outreach to end abortion in their community. To help realize that mission, the Coalition invited Sidewalk Advocates for Life to train their team in effective sidewalk advocacy. One of their trained Sidewalk Advocates was blessed to use these tools in her walk with an abortion-vulnerable mom from the moment she chose life until her baby was born. A year later, the Advocate shared …

I recently received the picture on the left from a sweet mother that I have kept in contact with. It has been 1 year since I met the mother for the very first time at Planned Parenthood. She was being prepped for an abortion when her fiancée decided to go inside the facility to try to stop her from going through with it. We now see the fruit of this crisis intervention.

Her sweet little girl continues to give me so much joy and hope. She is a blessing to her mother too – as no one else can be.

What a unique creation of God. Can’t think of anything more beautiful than that!

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
