I was on the sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood when an older lady drove up to me and asked if I was with Planned Parenthood or if I was “harassing” people. I told her my usual: that I had a gift to make people smile and that there is a free health clinic down the street.
I offered her a bag to take with her if she wanted to see what I was handing out. She angrily refused and stepped on the gas to drive away. I told her that I appreciated her stopping by to chat with me. For some reason, she stopped.
Then she shared that she was a retired abortion nurse …. and from there more of her story and hurt came out in the minutes that followed.
By the end of our conversation she held her hand out of the window to hold my hand and thank me for what I’m doing. She left with a smile on her face and one of my informational bags, and I was left in awe at how God worked through that conversation.
This was the encouragement I needed– to not be afraid of uncomfortable or hard conversations because you never know what God is going to do through you.
