Mom Meets Her “Guardian Angel” on the Sidewalk

“What will happen to me?”

It was the question the mom kept asking herself. She had just lost her father to stomach cancer; she had lost her job; she had no house, no savings, and no car. When she found out she was pregnant, she felt she had no option other than abortion. Her life was too chaotic and messy for a baby. She went to the abortion facility, and through her tears and depression, prayed for a sign that God was there, that He saw her and her desperation.

When she left the facility with her abortion-pill regimen, that’s when she met Martha, a Sidewalk Advocate praying outside. The mom joyfully recalls:

“My dear Martha, my guardian angel, the person who I owe all my respect and admiration. Without knowing me, she grabbed my hand tightly and spoke to me as if she were my mother. I burst into tears and then decided to accept that my God was speaking to me through her.

[This pregnancy] is one of the greatest blessings that Father God has given me. My life took a 180 degree turn, I have healed a lot of pain in my heart and very soon I will have my daughter in my arms.

God was waiting for me outside to take me by the hand and tell me with these words: ‘Don’t do it, that [child] will be your greatest blessing and happiness.’”

Sidewalk advocacy is as simple, as spiritual, as miraculous as that: the mere presence of a Sidewalk Advocate reaching out with the love of Christ can be the sign a pregnant mom is praying for – and serve as a turning point along the road to LIFE. We give thanks for all our Sidewalk Advocates who serve as signs of God’s providence – and who help to save women and their babies from the horror of abortion!

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
