SHOCKER: States Loving INFANTICIDE? A Nation Divided Between Life And Death…

Dear Friend of Life,

These are fascinating times to be involved in pro-life ministry. The heart of Esther 4:14 comes to mind: Can you not shake the feeling that you were created for such a time as this?

Nearly every day it seems abortion is in the headlines.

One day, it’s a state like Illinois sweeping any and all abortion restrictions off their books; the next day, news that the Supreme Court has ruled that the bodies of aborted children deserve to be treated with the same respect and dignity as any other human remains. We hear the incredible news that Missouri may be about to become the first abortion-free state in America, then the disappointing news that a judge has blocked the enforcement of Missouri’s basic health and safety regulations designed to protect women from grievous harm …of course, in order to protect the last remaining abortion facility in the state.

The stories are coming at such a pace it’s hard to keep up with them all, but one thing is clear: The battle lines are being drawn for the biggest fight over abortion since 1973, in preparation for Roe v. Wade being overturned and sent back to the states.

These days, there is a lot of talk about how America is becoming more and more divided – the vast difference between state laws on abortion makes this clear. There is a massive, un-traversable chasm between banning abortion in almost all cases and legalizing it in all cases, up to and including infanticide.

Some of us are thrilled at the laws being passed in our states to protect life; others of us are horrified and dismayed by our state government’s actions to protect abortion at all costs. For those living in deeply pro-abortion states, it is easy to feel dejected, even hopeless, at the news that your state is celebrating very late-term abortion and infanticide. Overturning Roe v. Wade has been the battle of two generations of pro-life activists, but sometimes it’s hard to get excited when you know that even that monumental victory, the overturning of Roe, won’t close down the abortion facility next door.

Don’t be discouraged.

The great news is that when Roe is overturned, your state will outlaw it or you’ll finally have a real chance to take your cause to the people and the local legislature to win one heart and mind at a time! Meanwhile, our job in the pro-life movement after Roe will be the same as it is today: To reach out to men and women considering abortion, to show them the way of life, to support the women we know who are faced with the challenge of single motherhood, and to ultimately make abortion unthinkable in our communities, whether abortion is legal or not.

We look forward to victory because we know that the light always conquers the darkness. We know that in Christ, death has been conquered by life, and through the power of the Holy Spirit we too can be part of bringing the victory of life to our city, state, and nation.

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
