Rain, Sleet, or Snow … God Shows Up

A church took a leap of faith in Maryland for their first independent, pro-life advocacy outing. Sidewalk Advocates, joined by their pastor, braved the cold temperatures with pregnancy-help signs in hand. They hoped to avoid harassment during this first sidewalk experience, but didn’t hope for much else. Of course, God had other plans (as usual). Not only did they receive thumbs-ups and a “thank you” from a man driving by, but they also encountered a woman they were able to help. After speaking with her about her options, the Advocates convinced the woman to go to a pregnancy center across the street.

Our Maryland team wasn’t the only group who stepped up despite inclement weather conditions. During a weekend of dire winter storm predictions, when most folks were hunkering down to wait out the storm, our North Carolina team was facing and overcoming obstacles to help moms in need.  Their Save the Storks medical mobile clinic, “Ruby Marie,” had been out of commission due to below-freezing temperatures and the ice and snow that remained in certain areas. More bad weather was looming, and their phone lines were still blowing up with women in need.

Not to be deterred, our Program Leader Bobby decided the team needed to set up a temporary ultrasound room in their office space — even driving two hours away to obtain an exam table they found online. They opened their emergency space to help multiple women during the winter weather.

Every day we stand in awe of our amazing Advocates who step up in faith that the Lord will provide no matter the circumstances. In the words of one of the Maryland Advocates:

“This is why it’s so important to live out our beliefs. We can’t say we care about our society and the direction it’s heading in and not DO something about it. We give God praise for what He’s done today and what He will continue to do. We’d like to also thank Sidewalk Advocates for Life for training people to advocate for life in the womb. You are a blessing and are changing lives.”

Let’s keep praying that more people dare to step up like these amazing Advocates!
