One of our Midwest Sidewalk Advocates suspected that a high school girl had been taken to an abortion facility by a school employee in an official school vehicle. It was on a day when she knew abortions were being performed. This was especially troubling because it seemed like the young girl was a minor, and her state requires the consent of a parent or guardian for a minor to get an abortion.
Not sure how best to pursue the legalities of this situation, the Advocate contacted our friends at the Center for Client Safety (CCS) who lent their expertise. After an extensive investigation, the CCS team discovered that school faculty were not authorized to transport students to any medical appointment without parental consent, let alone to an abortion facility, and then immediately filed a complaint with the school district.
The school board responded with its own investigation, and just this month, confirmed that faculty members were disciplined, and positive procedural changes have been made in this school district to ensure this never happens again.
The combination of sidewalk vigilance and CCS’s expert action helped ensure the young girls in this community are protected from the predatory abortion industry influence in their schools. In the words of our Advocate:
“I think people tend to forget how many different facets there are to the pro-life movement. I am so grateful that an organization like Center for Client Safety exists to aid the work of our sidewalk ministry. I never know what kind of situations I’m going to face on the sidewalk and, honestly, I never expected I would need to reach out to the Center for Client Safety, but it’s comforting to know that Sidewalk Advocates have an ally in the fight for life.”
