Something Told Him to Stay

On a brutally cold and windy morning, Sidewalk Advocate Marco was on the sidewalk outside Planned Parenthood. He was just about to run to his car because his hands were freezing despite the dollar-store gloves he was wearing. But something told him to stay.

A car pulled up, and the young woman inside (we’ll call her “Betty”) rolled down her window. Marco asked if she had an appointment. “No,” she said — and then tears started streaming down her face. “I don’t know what to do,” she whispered. “I can’t make a decision…”

After chatting for a little while, Betty agreed to go to the nearby pregnancy help center. There, she explained she wanted her baby, but her fiancé did not — leaving her anxious and afraid. So, she was going to the Planned Parenthood for the abortion pill. On the drive over, she had been begging God:

“Please give me a sign if You don’t want me to abort this baby.”

And then she pointed to Marco, and said,

“You were the sign.”

Remarkably, Marco is never usually there at that time. Only that day, he had scheduled a special Mass later in the morning, which placed him on the sidewalk right when Betty arrived.

The following Monday, the pregnancy help center followed up with Betty, who after being directed again to take the abortion pill by Planned Parenthood, declared she is “definitely” having the baby! Praise be to God!!

Betty is now about three months along. After three miscarriages last year, we’re storming heaven for a healthy pregnancy… and for the father’s heart to be softened.

Will you help us bring the “sign” of Christ’s love to more abortion-facility sidewalks? Through April 9, your gift will have double the impact to help more moms like Betty! sidewalkadvocates.org/donate.

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
