The Feast Is Coming!

“We always say, it’s feast or famine,” reflected Tonya, a trained Sidewalk Advocate and the founder and CEO of Hand of Hope Pregnancy Centers in North Carolina. “Rest in the famine, because the feast is coming, and you’re going to be busy!”

The SAFL-Raleigh, NC team had their biggest-ever “feast” when Sidewalk Advocates connected with a record number of women in one day on the sidewalk.

That day, “we had the sidewalk to ourselves,” Tonya says. Jan and Eileen, the Sidewalk Advocates serving that day, were excited to give her the full report. “We were able to connect with 30 women, actual abortion clinic patients, that we were able to give our bag to, and our contact information.”

One of the women needed information about abortion-pill reversal, which Sidewalk Advocates ensured she received.

A couple of those women needed emotional support after going through an abortion, and the team was there for them too — offering Christ’s compassionate mercy and a road to healing.

Tonya reflected on being the hands and feet of Christ on the sidewalk that day: “We loved on them, and let them know that we’re here for them, regardless of the decision that they make.”

Tonya and the Raleigh team will remember this landmark day for a long time. And despite the days when it seems like they aren’t making any connections,  they remain persistent.

“Hang in there,” she says. “Keep striving, and get up and do it all over again tomorrow. The Lord will reward it.”
