“For I Know the Plans I Have for You,” Declares the LORD (Jeremiah 29:11)

Message from SAFL President & CEO:

Dear Friends of Life,

Looking back at the last ten years, I am struck by the unexpected roads on which the Lord can lead us.

As a young woman, I envisioned becoming a lawyer. I attended Texas A&M where I earned degrees in Political Science, Spanish, and International Affairs. I went on to graduate from law school with honors, humbled by various awards and other accolades.

I could’ve had a lucrative career in a corner office in some high rise in downtown Dallas — and I even interviewed at places like that initially.

But my heart kept coming back to the sidewalk. To my “hobby.”

I couldn’t ignore the call to connect women in need with real help and hope.

While I’m so grateful for my education and kind moments of recognition, I can honestly tell you that none of that compares to the joy and reward of saving children and mothers from abortion in Sidewalk Advocates for Life — of knowing that people are alive today and generations are forever changed because of the influence of a Sidewalk Advocate.

Sidewalk advocacy reminds me of my first love, Jesus Christ. He sent His people to the darkest places in the world and brought life and light.

And I can’t think of any better place to be His hands and feet than outside an abortion facility — the place where women are hurting so badly and are in such crisis that they’re willing to sacrifice the life of their child.

But He can change their perspective and entire story. And we can be the bearer of that good news.

It’s been ten years since launching Sidewalk Advocates for Life, and I love my “job” just as much as the first day. The harvest of tens of thousands of lives saved and countless eternal souls forever changed — because a Sidewalk Advocate showed up to speak peace and hope into someone’s circumstances — is beyond compare.

It’s why I feel more at home in regular clothes than a power suit — I just want to be ordinary, imperfect Lauren, walk with Christ into the storm, and watch Him light it all up.

I’d love for you to join us in the greatest human rights movement on earth.

In Christ for Life,

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
