As our Sidewalk Advocates team was praying with 40 Days for Life volunteers, a young woman came up and started videotaping us while asking questions about rape / incest and abortion. She told us about her friend who was raped and kept the baby, but had to see her perpetrator’s face in her child every day.
We spoke love and truth to her situation, but most importantly, we listened. She then told us about her own pregnancy by a close friend who had gotten multiple women pregnant and scheduled their abortions… including hers.
If he would have stood by her, she said she would have kept the baby. The day she got her abortion, no one was on the sidewalk to offer her another choice. But we were here today to meet her where she was and answer her pain with love. We gave her a bag with resources for healing after an abortion, and we prayed for her.
THIS is why we need more Sidewalk Advocates to help us cover every abortion facility – for every hour the facility is open – with loving, compassionate Advocates: so women like this know they are loved and supported … and that they can CHOOSE LIFE for their preborn babies.
