Verse(s): “‘But what about you?’ he asked. ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah.'” — Mark 8:29
Reflection: We live in a world that doesn’t always acknowledge God in their midst. Many people want to do what they want, when they want, with no regard as to who it might affect.
But you and I are called to be salt and light to a world-in-need. The world around us might be proclaiming that comfort and pleasure are the guidelines to live by …but we know that the way to true fulfillment, happiness and peace comes from knowing and living in Jesus Christ.
When we live the way we are called to live as Christians, we live this proclamation and may save others around us from a life of selfishness, heartache and strife — not to mention, this proclamation may save their soul!
As the well-known Christian music group, DC Talk, said: “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today are Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”
Call to Action: Are you living what you believe? When you head out to the sidewalk, are you conducting yourself in a manner that is worthy of your calling? Are you attracting people through the light of Christ that shines through you? Evaluate your words, deeds and even the interior of your heart. Then, ask the Lord to transform you into a great example for those around you. Your example may be the thing that introduces someone to God Himself.
