A reflection by President & CEO Lauren Muzyka:
Why go to the Washington DC March for Life — or any march for life this year — when Roe has already been overturned?
Because post-Roe America isn’t yet an abortion-free America.
Just because Roe has been overturned, that doesn’t mean every state is defending innocent human life. Indeed, we’ve made progress with 14 states, but tens of thousands of lives are still being lost in the others. And the abortion industry is still on the ground in abortion-restricted states in the form of abortion-referral centers — or they’re working hard to pull pregnant women into their “mail-order abortion-drug” system.
The Dobbs Supreme Court decision last June was a huge shift in the right direction, but as we know, it simply means states are now free to protect life — it isn’t a given.
I’m going to the March for Life because I desire to march for the lives lost and the mothers and families affected during Roe‘s 49 years. I’m going to collaborate, strategize, and support the efforts to save countless future lives. And I’m going to march in victory for the Dobbs decision — and for the other victories surely coming IF WE DON’T GIVE UP.
Keep going, everyone! We’re making incredible progress, but our work isn’t done yet.
