The Sidewalk Advocates of Winter Haven, Florida, asked those very questions at one point, too.
When they first signed up for Sidewalk Advocates for Life, Amy and her team in Winter Haven were frustrated because the public right-of-way in front of their local abortion facility put them far away from the front door on a busy highway. To top it off: the shopping center where the Planned Parenthood was located also had a movie theater, so it was incredibly hard to figure out who was going to the abortion facility and who wasn’t!
The good news is that they resigned not to give up and asked for help: A couple members of our national team went to Winter Haven and looked at their set-up and offered suggestions that helped change the game.
But you know what else changed the game? Their perseverance in prayer and presence even when they weren’t seeing dramatic saves or other really evident victories. They just kept believing that God was working through them and that He was working behind the scenes to eventually show them how their efforts would pay off.
Finally — after persevering for 18 months every week and offering everyone loving alternatives to abortion and Planned Parenthood — they watched their 22-23 year old abortion facility lose business and ultimately, CLOSE!
