The BEST Strategy on the Sidewalk

Dear Friend of Life:

Knowing what’s at stake, do you think that those of us engaged in the battle for life should employ the best, most organized strategies — using the abundant gifts and talents God has given us — on the sidewalk?

What I mean is this: sometimes, in the battle for life, it’s easy to get complacent.  It’s easy just to load up our materials and head to the sidewalk and do our best to reach out to abortion-bound women and men.  There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that …but what if we “raised our game” just a little bit?

What if we called a prayer meeting, gathered community members, and made a plan to really cover every hour at the abortion facility with two peaceful sidewalk counselors per hour?

What if we took note of the pattern of traffic at the abortion facility and decided, yes, it’s time to also put sidewalk counselors there early to reach out to women lining up before the doors open?

What if we decided, yes, it’s important for us to have people there after the facility closes to reach out to post-abortive women and men to break the cycle for future abortions, giving them healing information and letting them know where they could go for help?

What if we were so organized that we made a schedule for our sidewalk counseling community and sent it out weekly or monthly?

What if we really set our sights on achieving 100% coverage at the abortion facility as soon as possible?

The more that I do this work, the more that I realize that God has given us precious gifts and talents — gifts and talents that lend itself well to discussion, strategy and action — that lead to a manifestation of His victory!  Yes, sometimes things miraculously come together and happen …but what if you’re part of “making things happen”?

What if your ingenuity is part of the miracle?

After all, you better believe that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry are using all of their gifts and talents in other direction — rolling out a map of the United States, determining where abortion-vulnerable women live and executing a plan to plant mega-facilities in their backyard so that they can make millions of dollars off of them.

It’s really something to think about.

So, today, here’s what I ask you to take to prayer: how can we get to the goal of 100% peaceful coverage at our local abortion center(s)?  Even if that takes a little while to achieve, are we at least moving in that direction?  That may include thinking about a program such as we offer — a comprehensive, peaceful program that also gives you all the training, tools and support needed for success.

In short, let us know how we can best serve you!

Friends, let’s us continue in this mission to save lives, transform hearts and end abortion through God’s grace …as well as the amazing gifts and talents He has given us!

BI-WEEKLY DEVOTIONAL (APRIL 5-18, 2015): “ASKING FOR MORE”

by Lauren Muzyka, Executive Director, Sidewalk Advocates for Life

Verse(s): “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16

Reflection: Do you ever hold back in prayer? Fail to pray bold prayers because you’re afraid that they won’t be answered?

I sometimes wonder if we would witness more miracles simply because we are unafraid to ask. Our Lord loves it when we approach him — as a little child would — full of wonder, hope and confidence, believing that He can do great things in our midst!

We know that the tragedy of abortion is a reality in our local community. But what would happen if our community began to pray bold prayers that asked him to change every heart and mind …and asked God to shut down our local abortion facility as soon as possible?

Do you believe it can happen? If not, what’s holding you back?

Faith Challenge: Our Father loves it when we ask Him to work miracles in our lives and communities! Be unafraid to pray bold prayers on behalf of women-in-need, abortion workers and that the facilit(ies) in your community would shut down forever!

Facilities closed:

The permanent closure of an abortion or abortion-referral facility that had a Sidewalk Advocates for Life presence.

Workers who quit:

An abortion worker who was influenced by prayer and sidewalk advocacy to leave the business. We refer all workers to And Then There Were None, a ministry that assists abortion workers in transitioning out of the industry.

Hopeful saves:

A “hopeful save” is recorded when a pregnant woman leaves the abortion/abortion-referral facility still pregnant to “think about it,” armed with life-affirming literature and a referral to the local pregnancy resource center

Babies saved:

A baby is recorded as a “save” when a pregnant woman accepts our offer of help at the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), verbally shares that she has chosen life, or gives us very clear signs that she has chosen life.
